My heart goes out to everyone affected by the devastating fires—those who have lost so much and those enduring unimaginable hardship. Deep gratitude to the incredible souls working tirelessly to save lives and bring hope amid such tragedy.

Being a native Angelino was a gift. LA has always captivated me. The story of the phoenix has always fascinated me. The imagery of this majestic and mythic bird rising from the ashes encourages us to recognize the strength that’s only born through adversity—the kind of strength that is only forged by fire.

The story of the phoenix dates back to ancient civilizations, with its earliest origins rooted in the mythology of Kemet. The people of Kemet revered a sacred bird known as Bennu, which they believed embodied the essence of Ra, the sun deity, and Osiris, the god of rebirth and the afterlife. The Bennu bird, much like the phoenix, symbolized the cycles of the sun, creation, and renewal. As the sun rose each morning, so too was the Bennu believed to rise, ushering life and vitality back into the world. This majestic bird, described as being the size of an eagle, adorned in radiant red and gold plumage, was unique in its existence—only one Bennu was said to live at any given time, underscoring its divine singularity.
